Tory
Eugene Provenzano was a miracle baby, born in 2001 to loving and blessed parents, Frank
and Kelly. As he grew, Tory was obviously having difficulty standing and developing the
ability to walk on his own. The months of uncertainty came to an abrupt end when the
diagnosis was made and the horror of 'Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy' became our reality.
Although Tory's life includes numerous doctor and clinic visits, side effects of various
medications and physiotherapy techniques, he soldiers through it all with a sweet spirit.
He is our hero...our focus...our inspiration...our Captain Tory.
Through this website, we hope to introduce you to the leaders of Tory's Team, report on
our participation in charitable events (past, present & future), suggest how you can
help and provide some insight into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Tory will be updating his 'Tory Time' page periodically to let you know what he's up to !
Muscular Dystrophies are gene related disorders that affect the muscles of the body.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common but severe of the Muscular
Dystrophies known and occurs at a rate of 1 in every 3000 boys. DMD boys are missing an
essential protein known as Dystrophin. Their muscles start out strong and waste away over
time. By the age of 8, many are in wheelchairs. Most do not survive beyond their mid
twenties.
The support and dedication of so many good people is truly overwhelming. Family and
friends rallied around, believing the dark cloud of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy will
part...we will see the blue skies beyond the rainbow where Tory will run toward so many
